Coffee
Producing Countries
COLOMBIA
Colombian coffee
is collected in all periods of the year by
Cafeteros, even though the main harvest
occurs between October and December and
the secondary collection takes place
between April and June.
The main feature
of the popular Colombian coffee is the
acidity caused due to the production of
coffee to heights ranging from 1,000 to
2,000 meters.
Another important
detail is the temperature of these areas
is around 20° C with abundant
rainfall (about 95 inches for years).
The coffee of
higher quality are produced in the
Cordillera Central and Cordillera
interior.
CENTRAL
AMERICA
The main countries
of the Central American coffee producers
are Guatemala, Costa Rica, Mexico and
Nicaragua. Coffee in Guatemala is one of
the best coffee in the world. Harvesting
is done manually and the grains are
extracted handcrafted using a process that
begins within 4 hours after the end of the
collection and has a duration of about
24-36 hours.
The cultivation of
coffee in Costa Rica was made possible by
4 major volcanoes that have made the
ground fertile. It is the nine
coffee-producing country in the world's
largest. The product is sweet, with an
excellent aroma and a strong acidity.
The types of
Mexican Cafe have poor quality and usually
are used to produce the dark color blends
Nicaragua has
grains with a salty taste and a body
decided. Also provide a correct acidity.
As in Costa Rica
including volcanoes in El Salvador is
create an environment suitable for growing
coffee.
The coffee has a
sweet taste and a strong
acidity.
CARIBBEAN AREA
All coffee growing
in Cuba, Dominican Republic and Puerto
Rico are at medium quality and have a full
body, an acid medium, and a delicate
aroma. In these crops is used the wet
method and is the best preparation of a
dark espresso color.
Coffee in Haiti
has a full taste and a little sweet -
sour. There is also a variation of this
cafe called Port au Prince, which leaves a
spicy taste.
In Jamaica there
are crops on the terraces between 450 and
1500 meters in height. The flavor and
acidity are very particular.
SOUTH
AMERICA
Among the
countries of South America certainly be
cited Venezuela, Ecuador and Peru.
Venezuelan quality
is possibly find on the border with
Colombia. These products are also among
the least popular in the world. The
characteristics are a low acidity and
body.
The Equador
occupies the twelfth position among global
manufacturers, produces the type of coffee
is Robusta and Arabica type. The products
have low acidity.
Finally Peru
provides coffee to be mainly used for the
preparation of mixtures. A good quality
can be found in products of the northern
part of the country.
AFRICA
The Ethiopia is
one of the few countries where coffee
grows spontaneously. Represents the first
country in Africa with greater exports and
consumption of this product. The various
internal political conflicts have created
many problems on the ability to produce
high quality coffee. In recent years,
however, that the situation is setting.
In eastern
Ethiopia, coffee is growing at about 1500
meters of altitude in the fields of
farmers. Is used for cultivating the dry
method. The properties of the drink is to
have a sweet taste and a high acidity.
In southern
Ethiopia instead use the wet method and
the coffee has an intense aroma and taste
sour.
In the African
continent there is also Cameroun, which
produces Java coffee and various types of
Robusta and Arabica Lavati. The problem
with this country, despite occupying the
fifteenth position in the world and fifth
in Africa, is that plantations are not
always abundant.
Zaire produces
various types of which are Robusta and
Natural Lavati. It must be stressed
however that the quality is generally not
very high.
The largest
producer of Robusta coffee type in Africa
is the Côte of Ivoire. During the
last 90 years it was the fifth in world
production, then fell to ninth place.
Several studies claim that it was a wrong
investment planning to lead to a lowering
of the quality and productivity of crops.
Other countries
are less well-known producers Uganda,
Madagascar and Angola.
ASIA
It contains only
two producing countries. The first country
is India, who grows almost all known
types: Arabica, Robusta, Natural Lavati.
The plants grow to 600 - 1800 meters of
altitude. The characteristics of the
coffee resembled those of the Indonesians.
The best quality
you can find in places such as: Karnatka,
Kerala and Tamilnadu.
The specialty of
this coffee in the best years is to have a
body like that of intense coffee Java.
The second country
in the Asia' s Indonesia. It is also one
of the largest producers of Robusta coffee
type, which is easily recognized for high
density of the liquid. It is the third
largest producer in the world. It must be
said, however, that of the grains
collected only a fraction of them have
high quality.
A small proportion
of the crop is of type I and Arabica beans
are valued for their wealth and the slight
acidity. They are in fact considered the
best in the world.
